The following hospitals will not store your placenta until collection or discharge. You will sign a release of liability form.

If you are birthing at one of these hospitals you need to take a cooler bag with you, so that you can

a) store your placenta safely until collection, or

b) take your placenta home and store in the fridge until collection.

Will store in fridge

The following hospitals will store safely in a refrigerator until collection or your discharge. Upon pickup, you will sign a release of liability form.

Armadale Hospital

St John Of God Midland

DO NOT LEAVE HOSPITAL WITHOUT YOUR PLACENTA - IT WILL LIKELY BE DISCARDED AS WASTE.

 


24 hour hold before release

The following is requires 24 hour hold period. Placenta can be collected after 24 hours, you will sign a release of liability form:

ROCKINGHAM HOSPITAL

DO NOT LEAVE HOSPITAL WITHOUT YOUR PLACENTA - IT WILL LIKELY BE DISCARDED AS WASTE.

If you have any doubt about the willingness of your hospital to store your placenta then play it safe, pack a cooler bag (and clean 2L plastic container) in your hospital bag just in case.
